HNHANA’s Innovative Modular Chair Passes Rigorous US BIFMA Standards on First Attempt, Proving Global Competitiveness with Patented Architecture.

Our patented structural architecture proves that a tool-less, modular design can achieve industry-leading durability. This achievement challenges standard perceptions of knockdown furniture.”

SEOUL, YANGCHEONGU, SOUTH KOREA, September 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — HNHANA Co., Ltd., a specialized South Korean home living and furniture company (CEO: Beomjin Park), announced that its newly developed, structurally innovative “Prefabricated Dining Chair” has successfully passed the durability and safety tests of the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association (ANSI/BIFMA) in the United States.
The ANSI/BIFMA test is a rigorous standard used to evaluate the load capacity, durability, and safety of furniture. Successfully passing this test with a prefabricated dining chair—a category notoriously difficult to reinforce structurally—is considered an exceptional technical achievement.
The newly validated chair features an ingenious modular construction where two rigid rectangular frames are interlocked in a “+” shape. It boasts exceptional load distribution and structural integrity, capable of standing independently even without a seat or backrest. Consisting of just four core components (two frames, a backrest, and a seat), it allows anyone to assemble it easily without specialized tools.
This technology has been officially recognized for its originality and utility. Following its domestic patent registration (Patent No. 10-2509700), the company completed patent registrations in the United States, Japan, and Europe via a Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) international application (WO2022255633), alongside pending applications in China and other major countries. Furthermore, it received official recognition for its technological prowess by winning a Bronze Medal at the 2023 Seoul International Invention Fair (SIIF).
Traditional dining chairs are mostly shipped as large finished products or in sets of two, creating heavy packaging and courier logistics cost burdens for individual single-unit shipments. However, this product implements a complete knock-down (KD) method that reduces packaging volume by more than 50% compared to existing options, enabling convenient courier shipping in a single standard box.
Beomjin Park, inventor and CEO of HNHANA, stated, “This invention is not limited to a specific design; rather, it is a patent concerning a core structural framework that can be applied to various materials such as steel, aluminum, and PPGI, as well as an infinite array of designs. Now that its structural safety has been verified through this BIFMA test, it will lead logistical innovation in the global kitchen and dining chair market.” He added, “To expand our presence in the global market, we plan to actively pursue patent licensing and strategic partnerships with global furniture manufacturing and distribution companies.”
